Research in Applied and Basic Medical Sciences (RABMS) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal published quarterly by Urmia University of Medical Sciences (UMSU). The journal invites original research articles, review papers, short communications, and technical reports that contribute novel insights across the spectrum of biomedical and health sciences. All manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer-review process conducted by field experts. The journal does not charge authors for submission, processing, or publication, and ensures unrestricted access to all published content. Articles are permanently archived via the Eprint Repository to support long-term accessibility and preservation.
The journal’s mission is to:
Promote integrative biomedical research that transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries.
Support the translation of foundational discoveries into therapeutic, diagnostic, or technological solutions.
Provide a platform for collaborative, cross-disciplinary science involving life scientists, engineers, data scientists, and clinicians.
The RABMS journal is dedicated to publishing high-quality, fundamental, and translational research across a broad spectrum of biomedical sciences. Our scope encompasses diverse fields, including but not limited to:
I. Fundamental and Translational Biomedical Research: Molecular and cellular mechanisms of disease, experimental molecular biology, pathobiology and experimental models, physiology, pathophysiology, systems biology, and basic neuroscience/neurobiology.
II. Experimental Therapeutics and Drug Discovery: Identification of drug targets, molecular pharmacology, drug delivery systems, and advanced therapeutic platforms.
III. Regenerative Medicine and Advanced Nanobiotechnology: Stem cell biology, Extracellular vesicles, tissue engineering, nanotechnology, and biomolecular engineering for regenerative and therapeutic applications.
IV. Microbiology and Immunology: Fundamental research on microorganisms, immune system intricacies, host-pathogen interactions and immunoengineering.
V. Interdisciplinary Methodologies and Emerging Areas: Application of AI, computational biomedicine, and other cutting-edge interdisciplinary methodologies to basic medical research.
VI. Clinical Medicine: Research that bridges fundamental discoveries with clinical applications, focusing on the underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms of human diseases, diagnostic advancements, epidemiology, and novel therapeutic strategies investigated in clinical or patient-oriented settings.
The journal encourages interdisciplinary research that pushes the boundaries of biomedical understanding and opens new avenues for diagnostics, prevention, and treatment.
